Income disparity has become a global issue. It was increasing prior to the Covid-19 epidemic and has been exacerbated by the impact of this disease and shutdowns and "social distancing". However, with or without Covid-19, macroeconomic policies were not delivering on this item. The 2019 United Nations Sustainable Development Report identified income disparity as one of the critical indicators that remains negatively correlated to "economic growth".
